I am from red envelopes and dimples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From Melei Nguyen and Vuong Kelly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am from the stubbornness and travel junkie, From \u201cno tattoos\u201d to \u201cgreet every adult.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am from the solemn 40 days of Lent and fasting on Fridays I am from America, Ireland and Vietnam,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the comforting taste of Pho, crispy Ch\u1ea3 gi\u00f2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the premature brother who face death 3 times, and could fit my dad\u2019s wedding ring around his wrist,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the mother who moved to America at 12 to escape war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the black shelf in my bedroom, sits a sparkly red box, overflowing with cards, photos, and trinkets&#8211;reflecting my past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am from the bronze cross that gathers the family before bed to pray, because \u201cfamilies who pray together, stay together.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","meta":[],"genre":[29,26],"year":[44],"class_list":["post-177","writing","type-writing","status-publish","hentry","genre-poetry","genre-writing","year-44"],"acf":{"contributor":"Annie Kelly","bio":"This poem was created by Annie Kelly, a current student at MiraCosta College.
